December Stadium Pics - FINALLY

Hi All,
Sorry for the Delay in Getting these December Stadium Pictures up! We have had a bit of cold weather here in the Bend...you all know how it goes! The snow has finally melted and the ice has thawed out and I got some good pics of the stadium progress. There are mostly pictures of exterior updates. The interior will be easier to show and understand once the finishing touches are started (i.e. - walls, carpet, showers, toilets, etc.) Enjoy the Pictures!!

Hello Friends and Family,

I have been sending out letters to all of my family, friends and the entire Notre Dame family. I will be going to Nairobi, Kenya to volunteer at a children's orphanage at the end of December. I will be spending Christmas in Africa and I know that it will be a humbling experience to say the least. Please check your email (the email will be from Lizzy Lemire) for a letter and more information on my trip.

DIRT IS CALLED HILLTOPPER STABILIZER - IT IS A SYNTHETIC DIRT THAT IS MADE OF A CRUSHED LAVA/SCORIA ROCK SO IT BEADS OFF WATER WHEN IT RAINS. GREAT FOR OUR WEATHER AND SUPER HIGH TECH!!

HUGE DRAINAGE DRYWELLS HAVE BEEN SET IN THE GROUND OUTSIDE THE 3RD BASELINE OF THE STADIUM. THESE DRYWELLS CAN HANDLE ANY AMOUNT OF WATER THAT WILL DUMP ON OUR FIELD!


THIS IS WHAT THE DRYWELL LOOKS LIKE - THE DRAINAGE PIPES HAVE BEEN LAID UNDER THE FIELD AND WILL RUN INTO THE DRYWELL. ONCE THE "TANK" HAS BEEN FILLED, THE HOLES IN THE DRYWELL WILL ALLOW THE WATER TO PERCOLATE INTO SURROUNDING SOIL. YOU CAN REALLY SEE HOW BIG THEY ARE AND HOW MUCH WATER THEY CAN HANDLE! JEROME & JOE (OUR FIELD CREW) ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS COMPONENT OF THE STADIUM!

MSU Weekend - Alumni Events!

Hi Alumni,

Friday, September 21st

• 5:30 PM - Pep Rally - RSVP to Lizzy at elemire@nd.edu or 574-631-8295 if you need tickets.

• Bonfire at Joe & Kathy Speybroeck's House - RSVP to Kathy at speybroeck.2@nd.edu or 574-631-4837 if you will attend.

Saturday, September 22nd

• 10:00 AM - Melissa Cook Stadium Construction Tour. All attendees will need to sign a Release because we will be entering a construction site. We will also be wearing Hard Hats! - RSVP to Lizzy at elemire@nd.edu or 574-631-8295 if you will be attending.
• 10:30 AM - Tailgate at Joyce Center "Grassy Knoll" (Patch of Grass against the Joyce Center between Gate 6 and 8 ) available to Softball Alumni. Please Bring Beer/Alcohol that you want to drink and any food that you are willing to provide. There will already be coolers & ice there.
• 1:00 PM - Softball Tailgate w/ Recruits - Located in front of Joyce Center to the RIGHTof the Varsity Shop. Generally this tailgate is "less fun" because we don't have alcohol there and we are entertaining our recruits. However...we will have a lot of Food and Drink ot offer. All are welcome to Attend!!!

FOOTBALL TICKETS

For those of you who ordered football tickets from our office, they will be available for pickup on Friday in our office (Located 2nd floor of Gate 3 of the Joyce Center - Please see Dawn our Admin. Asst. for Tickets) or from Lizzy on Saturday. Please call or email me in advance (elemire@nd.edu or 574-631-8295) so we can arrange a time or place to swap tickets & payment. * A reminder that tickets are $62 a piece if you have not already paid!

Irish Softball Raffle

Help Support Notre Dame Softball (...and win great prizes too!)

Throughout the entire 2007 football season, the Notre Dame Softball Team is holding a Raffle to help send the team to Italy. Tickets are on sale for $5each or 6 for $25. Prizes include:

• Grand Prize - Hotel, 2 Tickets & Airfare to the 2008 Notre Dame vs. Boston College Football game in Chestnut Hill, MA
• Autographed Brady Quinn Cleveland Browns Jersey
• Original Notre Dame Sports Photography by Mike Bennette of Lighthouse Imaging (our Athletic Department Photographer)
• ND Sports Jersey Package - Includes 1 Football Jersey, 1 Hockey Jersey, 1 Basketball Jersey and 1 Baseball Jersey).
• Lou Holtz Package - All Items Autographed by Lou Holtz - 1 mini gold helmet, 1 football and 2 of his books "Winning Everyday" and "Wins, Losses and Life Lessons".

Seriously, all of the raffle prizes are AWESOME!! I am hoping to get pictures up of them within the next few weeks!

This will be the future team lounge- in this room there will be couches, tv, dvd, computer work stations and tables for just hanging out!

Attached to the Lockerroom is the Bathroom & Showers.

Monogram Club Reception

The Monogram Club will be holding two Outdoor Recptions on Football Weekends this Fall for Monogram Dues Paying Members. The receptions will be held in the Corporat Tents before the Georgia Tech and Michigan State home football game. There will be Great Food, Live Entertainment, Cash Bar & a Visit from the ND Cheerleaders! This is a great alternative if you are looking for a tailgate to go to!

Tickets are $10 each for Monogram Winners and $20 for Family Members over 5 years old. Children under 5 years old are FREE! Contact the Monogram Club at 574-631-5450 if you are interested. You MUST pre-register!

Ticket Lottery Results

Please let our office know if you received any MSU tickets in the university's Ticket Lottery (via Monogram Club or Alumni) and if you also requested tickets through the available Softball allottment. We have a waiting list of softball players who need tickets and hope to avoid double-dipping on tickets. It would just be great to give all alumni the opportunity to attend the game and weekend in general!

For everyone else on the waiting list, I will let you know if/when tickets become available!

Mich. State Tickets - OUT

We've had such a great response for those that want to come to the Michigan State game (the designated "Softball Alumni" weekend) next year that we are OUT of tickets! The Ticket office only allotted the Softball program 60 tickets and we are all out.

If you end up winning tickets from your lottery can you PLEASE give back the number you requested from our allottment. This just gives everyone an opportunity to attend the game. I will be sure to let you know if more become available and if you are on the waiting list and will get tickets.

This should be a fun weekend, that is for sure!

Welcome Irish Softball Alumni to our very own Blog site! I thought I would try this idea instead of publishing newsletters every 4-6 months. My goal is to create a site that will allow for immediate updates on news from our end, but also to have a website where all you alumni can post updates about the happenings in your lives! That includes any news on jobs, family, babies or just whatever! My goal is for everyone to be able to post pictures on here too so we can see how you & your families are progressing along in life!

If you like the newsletter I can still publish several times a year, just let me know. For now we will try something new though!
